Option Two: Discover Northeast and Northwest Vietnam
Tour Code: TWE-02
Duration: 10 days - 9 nights

This option builds on the first five days of Option One (see above) with an additional four days of adventure during which you will travel to rarely-visited villages in Northwest Vietnam. The additional four days of Option Two ensure an even deeper understanding of the people and culture of Vietnam. This is a once in a lifetime experience.

Description pictures:

After reaching Lao Cai, we will continue driving on to the beautiful French colonial city of Sapa, where will arrive at about 4pm.
After breakfast we will drive for about 7km along the Muong Hoa valley to Lao Chai, a beautiful village of the Black H’mong tribe. From here we will depart on foot and continue to follow the Moung Hoa River. We’ll hike through fertile terraced rice paddies until we come Tavan village, where the Zay tribe lives. We’ll cross the river on a suspension bridge where our car is waiting to transfer you back to the hotel for one more night in Sapa.(B,L,D)
We’ll tart the day with 14km drive (almost all up hill) to the highest pass in Vietnam, known locally as Heaven’s Gate (Tram Ton pass 2047m ) Climbing to the pass from Sapa, the skies may be foggy, but as we proceed down to the west, it becomes warm and sunny. We will continue for 25km along the Binh Lu valley through the village of the Lao tribe (the Lao people are small but fascinating minority). After our stop in the Lao village, we’ll keep driving through hill tribe villages (mostly Black Dao people) to reach either the village of Lai Chau or Muong Lay where we’ll stop for the night at a hotel. We will have covered over 170km this day, and a warm shower and a good meal will be welcome. (B,L,D)
Today our itinerary takes us through the virgin forest where you’ll see some unforgettable landscapes. Make sure your camera is working because you have time to photograph of many amazing birds and the surrounding mountain range. We’ll pass through the villages of the Red H’mong and the White Thai tribes. We’’ spend the night in Sonla in a hotel run by the Vietnamese government.(B,L,D)
Having started the morning with a short walk to visit an old prison in Sonla (this prison, built by the French in 1918, was used to detain our Vietnamese political prisoners), we’ll enjoy more spectacular scenery along the road to MAI CHAU village where we will experience the hospitality of a family of the Thai tribe. Our home stay will be another unique experience; we’ll eat and sleep in the family’s house, which is built on stilts.
You will awaken to the sound of the rooster, and the ware buffalo. Get out of bed and walk through the village because this is the best time to discover the daily life of the Thai minority people. After breakfast with our home stay hosts, we’ll get in the car and drive along the Hoa Binh valley to Hanoi. Depending on your flight, your tour can end in upon arrival in Hanoi, or we can offer you an additional night in a hotel to and deliver you to the airport via cab the following morning.  (B,L,D)
